Lovely morning. We often find in our daily lives that different people have different perspectives on the same thing. For example, when you go to see a film with a friend or your partner and talk about it afterwards, you may be surprised to hear that they have completely different opinions about it. If you decide to buy a book you like, you may read reviews of it on the internet and come across some enthusiastic recommendations, or you may come across some harsh opinions about it. It’s important to acknowledge this range of opinions.
Of course, different points of view will have different aspects that only you can see, or that you can’t see at all. Or you may only see the glittering top and not the essence of it. I’m currently studying psychology, and it seems that the human brain sometimes fails to recognise things when they appear in front of it that are beyond what it expects.
In other words, if we are so caught up in our own frame of mind that we can only see things in that way, we often fail to see what is right in front of us. But it also shows you how scary it can be to think only for yourself. Of course it is necessary to have your own axis in life, but there is a limit to how far you can go if you try to see things only from your own frame of mind. That is why we need to listen to the opinions of different people. It is also a pleasure to think about how to choose or combine these different opinions.
When you see a film and hear your partner’s opinion on it, when he or she tells you something about the film that you didn’t notice, you will enjoy the film and maybe even appreciate the beauty of the person with whom you are now sharing your heart. Let go of captivity as much as you can, and develop your sensibility so that you can see and appreciate a wider perspective, choose between different opinions, and recognise that in the world we live in, what we see is not everything, and that there is much more that we do not see. In this way, everything you see in front of you will be cherished and appreciated, and you will be able to fill your heart with joy.
