Lovely morning. We can now easily find out what we are interested in and what we want to know through the internet and books. All we have to do is enter a search term into the search box such as “how to learn English”, “diet” or “beauty” and press enter and countless amounts of information will appear in front of us.
However, it is not easy to learn the “heart” of the matter from the internet or books alone, even if you can learn the skills. What is really important is the core of what is written in the article or book. For example, when you read an article about “10 ways to be liked by others”, it is easy to get lost in the skills and techniques, but it is important to try to learn the essence of what the article or book is about.
If you look at the part that says “you need to smile to be liked”, just smiling may not be enough to convey your heart to the other person. If you know why you need to smile, and imagine what your smile will do to the other person’s heart, then your smile will make them feel better and happier. In other words, it is the “heart” of the technique or skill that counts.
Of course, you can either start with the technique and try it and feel the “heart” of it, or you can feel what the “heart” of it is and why there is such a technique and practice it. Nothing will change unless you take the first step. Sports, music, painting, the cuisine you eat every day, difficult maths problems, all of these are techniques and skills that are based on a foundation. We should be grateful to the people who have put these techniques and skills together, who have sublimated them to such an extent that they can be easily understood by us, and this may change the way we learn these skills and techniques.
