Lovely morning. The two-day Common University Test ended yesterday. It is truly amazing that the students were able to take the two-day test from start to finish without losing the most concentration. There are many ways to enter a university, but no matter which way you choose, it is because of your hard work that the path opened up for you.
First of all, I would like students to take pride in the fact that they decided to take this two-day test and were able to take it. Even just taking the test, which is necessary to pass the school of your choice, is nerve-wracking, but this year, following last year, the spread of a virus that we had never thought of before, the highly contagious Omicron virus, may have made us more sensitive about many things than ever before. We may have become more sensitive about many things.
In addition, the Common Test, which replaces the National Center Test for University Admissions, checks the ability to think, judge, and express oneself by reading information from multiple sources in many subjects. Especially for English, the format of the questions has changed greatly from the past Center Test, so it may have been quite a difficult test for students who are not good at reading lengthy texts.
However, I think that today’s students may have a better ability to select the information they need from the various information available on the Internet. And the ability to accurately obtain the necessary information and verify whether it is correct or not may be something that they will need greatly when they enter the society in the future. In this issue of listening, there was also a question about how to work as a so-called freelancer. If students are exposed to a variety of news on a regular basis and have this background knowledge, they can listen to these questions by comparing them to their own knowledge and anticipating the flow of the conversation. As an English teacher, I realized once again that it is not only necessary to teach English, but it is also necessary to convey a variety of knowledge through English in the lessons.
Now they have to grade themselves, decide which school they want to take the second round of exams at, and submit their applications.
It is necessary for them to make their dreams come true, so I hope that they will accept the reality and think carefully about what they will do from there. The steps we take today will surely shape our future.
