Lovely morning. The nature in which we live is in a constant state of change. The sun rises in the east and sets in the west, but the time it rises and sets changes every day, the angle at which the sun shines on us changes every day, and before we know it, summer is over and it feels like autumn, and then we enter winter, and then warm spring. It’s not so much that the sun shines on us every day, but that it changes every minute of the day. Every day, something changes, even in the same routine that you repeat.
When you buy a vocabulary book to learn English words, it may seem like there are endless words to learn, but by memorising them day after day, you may find that you are able to read them all. However, there are a few people who can’t finish a vocabulary book. This may be because they feel obliged to do it every day and don’t enjoy the process of learning. Or they may have given up in despair because they just couldn’t remember the words. But your vocabulary has definitely improved, more so today than it was a week ago, or three days ago than it was yesterday. But just as the sun looks the same every day as it rises in the east, you won’t notice the slightest change.
There are many different opinions on how to keep up with the daily routine, but I think it’s important to feel the joy in it. For example, if you remember these words, you will be able to enjoy western movies and dramas more, if you get a high score on TOEIC, you will be able to use it for promotion in your company, you will be able to go to the high school or university you want to go to, you will be able to study abroad and talk with people from different countries, you will be able to read various novels in the original. It is also good to think about the future and find joy in it. I think it’s also important to find joy when you learn a word, for example by looking up the etymology of a word, or finding out that a word comes from French, or that there are different ways of using a word with the same meaning.
It’s also important to remember to ask “why? “What?” “How? Remember that when you were little you were curious about everything you saw, heard, felt and read. Remember the indescribable thrill you felt when someone around you told you the answer, or when you found out for yourself, or when you were convinced after observing for a long time. When you do this, you will feel the joy of doing something that you were obliged to do, and you will find that you are getting stronger.
If you look at the same routine every day, you will find something to enjoy in it. You can find a little something in your hard work, the smell and taste of a cup of coffee can soothe you, or you can learn something with joy. If you try to change your mind just a little bit, your days may become a little more pleasant.
