Lovely morning.Looking at yourself objectively is a very important part of life. You may only see yourself in the mirror and from your favourite angle. It’s hard to see yourself in profile or from behind. Many of us have been surprised by our own reflection in a window while walking down the street.
It’s not just about how you look, it’s also about how you feel in your mind.
If you only see what is right in front of you, then when you find yourself in a difficult situation, or when the world as a whole is going through a difficult time that you did not expect, your judgement is likely to be biased. If you are only looking at things from one angle, you can only choose what you think and what you do from the very few options you have, so you tend to make very biased decisions, and more often than not, you will not get what you want. It is important to have your own axis.
It is very important to be able to look at yourself from the perspective of your own axis. When you are climbing a mountain, all you can see is the road and the landscape in front of you. But when you look out of the woods at the foot of the mountain, you can see that you are a long way up the mountain, and when you look up and see the top of the mountain, you can judge how long it will take to reach the top. You can’t see this just by looking at the trail in front of you. By moving your gaze around a bit, you can see things that you can’t see, and by looking at yourself and your way of thinking from a distance, you can notice and learn a lot. And most importantly, you will realise that there is not only one way to go, but that there are many different ways to reach your goal. This will help you to see things differently when you are struggling with a relationship, for example, and it will also help you to see how you can act more objectively. It may also help you to see things with a gentler perspective. It may also make you feel a little less frustrated and depressed.
If you can look at yourself from a distance and see the many wonderful things about yourself that you didn’t know you had, and develop them further and further, you will feel happier and more positive about yourself.
